Overview
The Official Raspberry Pi 5 Active Cooler offers a comprehensive thermal management solution for your Raspberry Pi 5. It combines a single-piece aluminum heatsink with a high-quality, temperature-controlled blower fan. It mounts directly to the Pi 5 board via spring-loaded push pins into dedicated mounting holes, connecting to the Pi’s new onboard fan power port. This ensures your credit-card-sized supercomputer stays perfectly cool even during heavy compilation, gaming emulation, or 4K video playback.
Key Features
Official Raspberry Pi Accessory: Designed explicitly by the Raspberry Pi Foundation for flawless fit and function.
Smart PWM Speed Control: The blower fan is software-controlled via PWM; it stays completely silent during idle times and spins up automatically as the CPU heats up.
Tool-Free Installation: Features pre-applied thermal pads and spring-loaded push pins, allowing you to clip it onto the board in under 10 seconds.
Low-Profile Aesthetics: Fits snugly on top of the board without blocking access to the GPIO pins, camera/display ports, or PCIe slot.

Why do you need the Active Cooler for the Pi 5?
The Raspberry Pi 5 will automatically lower its operating speed (throttle) if the processor temperature reaches 80°C. Under a continuous heavy load without cooling, the Pi 5 will easily hit this limit. The Active Cooler keeps the operating temperatures well below the throttling threshold, unlocking the true, uninhibited 2.4GHz speed of the broadcom chip.
