Overview
The Raspberry Pi 5MP CSI Camera Module is a custom-designed add-on board featuring the high-performance OV5647 image sensor. It connects directly to the dedicated CSI port on your Raspberry Pi using a short ribbon cable, utilizing a high-bandwidth bus protocol optimized specifically for transferring pixel data directly to the Pi’s processor. It is fully supported by standard Raspberry Pi OS libraries (like libcamera), making implementation incredibly simple for students and engineers alike.
Key Features
Native CSI Interface: Bypasses the USB bus entirely, ensuring ultra-low latency and minimal CPU overhead during video streaming.
Crisp HD Video: Capable of capturing smooth video at 1080p (30fps), 720p (60fps), and 640x480p (90fps for high-speed tracking).
Adjustable Focus Lens: Features a manual focus ring on the lens, allowing you to sharpen images whether capturing an entire room or reading text macro-style up close.
Massive Community Support: Thousands of open-source scripts are readily available for Python, OpenCV, and security platforms like MotionEyeOS.
