Overview
The Digispark ATtiny85 is an MCU development board based on the Atmel ATtiny85. It is similar to the Arduino line, only cheaper, smaller, and a bit less powerful. With a whole host of shields to extend its functionality and the ability to use the familiar Arduino IDE, the Digispark is a great way to jump into electronics, or perfect for when an Arduino is too big or too much.
Key Features
Direct USB Plug: No cables required! The PCB has USB contacts built-in for instant programming and power.
HID Emulation: Can act as a USB Keyboard, Mouse, or Joystick—popular for “Macro Pads” or automated script injection.
Arduino IDE Support: Easy to program using the standard Arduino environment (with the Digispark board manager).
6 I/O Pins: Includes 2 pins used for USB (only if your program communicates over USB), leaving 4 to 6 usable pins.
Onboard Regulator: Built-in 5V regulator allows you to power it with up to 12V DC via the “VIN” pin.
