Makers choose the KY-011 2-Color LED Module when they need an intuitive way to show system states. Specifically, this module integrates two different colored diodes into a single diffused lens. Therefore, you can easily signal “Stop/Go,” “Error/Ready,” or “Charging/Full” using only one component. Furthermore, the module is mounted on a small PCB. As a result, you can plug it directly into a breadboard or sensor shield without the LED legs bending or breaking.
Additionally, because this is a common cathode module, it is very straightforward to wire. Consequently, it works perfectly with the standard digitalWrite() and analogWrite() functions in the Arduino IDE. Because of this, the KY-011 2-Color LED Module remains a favorite for beginner electronics kits and status panels.
Key Features β¨
Dual-Color Signaling: The module provides clear Red and Green light. Specifically, you can light them one at a time or together to create a blended yellow/amber hue.
Common Cathode Layout: Both LEDs share a single negative terminal. Therefore, you only need three wires to control two different visual states.
PWM Support: You can adjust the brightness of each color individually. Consequently, you can create smooth fading effects or custom mixed colors through your code.
Diffused 5mm Lens: The LED features a milky, diffused housing. As a result, the light is soft on the eyes and provides a wide viewing angle of nearly 150 degrees.
Low Current Consumption: In addition, it operates efficiently with very little power. Specifically, it is safe to run directly from most microcontroller GPIO pins.
