Overview
The ZB2L3 / HW-586 is a dedicated battery capacity tester designed to measure the discharge capacity of various battery types, including 18650 Li-ion, Ni-MH, and even Lead-acid batteries up to 12V. Unlike simple voltage meters, this module performs a “stress test” by discharging the battery through provided resistors and calculating the total Milliampere-hours (mAh) or Ampere-hours (Ah) in real-time. It’s an essential tool for DIY power bank builders and anyone refurbishing old battery packs.
Key Features
Accurate Capacity Testing: Measures the actual energy storage of the battery, not just the surface voltage.
Automatic Cutoff: Prevents over-discharge by allowing you to set a termination voltage (e.g., 3.0V for 18650s).
Clear LED Display: Cycles between Voltage (V), Current (A), and Capacity (Ah/mAh) during the test.
External Load Resistors: Includes two 5W 7.5R resistors to dissipate heat safely during the discharge process.
Error Coding: Built-in safeguards like Err1 (Battery voltage > 15V), Err2 (Lower than termination voltage), and Err3 (Discharge current too high).
