Overview
The 16-Pin DIP IC Socket (Dual In-line Package) is a standard connector used to mount 16-pin integrated circuits (like the 74HC595 shift register or the ULN2003 driver) onto a printed circuit board (PCB) or breadboard. By using a socket, you eliminate the risk of destroying sensitive silicon with your soldering iron’s heat. It also makes troubleshooting significantly faster—if a chip fails, you simply pop it out and slide a new one in without touching a soldering iron.
Key Features
Heat Protection: No more worrying about “overcooking” your ICs while soldering.
Standard 2.54mm Pitch: Fits perfectly into standard breadboards, stripboards, and high-density PCBs.
Dual-Row Design: Features a notched end to help you orient your IC correctly (Pin 1 indicator).
Firm Grip: High-quality tin-plated alloy contacts ensure a stable electrical connection even under vibration.
Stackable: Can be used on top of each other for specialized prototyping or as spacers.
