Overview
The 20-Pin DIP IC Socket (Dual In-line Package) is a standard connector for mounting 20-pin integrated circuits onto a PCB or stripboard. Since 20-pin chips often handle complex data or power distribution, they are prone to failure if miswired. Using a socket allows you to “plug-and-play” your chips only after you’ve verified the board’s voltages, keeping your expensive silicon safe from accidental shorts or soldering iron damage.
Key Features
Safe Assembly: Solder the socket base to your project first; plug in the sensitive IC only when the board is cool.
Standard 2.54mm (0.1″) Pitch: Fits all standard breadboards, Vero boards, and high-density PCB layouts.
Notched for Safety: Features a physical “U” notch on one end to help you align Pin 1 of the IC correctly.
High-Quality Contacts: Tin-plated copper alloy pins provide a low-resistance, vibration-proof connection.
Easy Maintenance: If a logic gate or buffer fails, simply pop it out and replace it without any desoldering.
