Description

Overview

The INA219 is a zero-drift, bi-directional current/power monitoring IC that communicates via the I2C interface. Unlike simple shunts that only measure current, the INA219 measures both the bus voltage and the voltage drop across the shunt resistor, allowing it to calculate the exact power being consumed by your load in real-time. It is the perfect tool for “smart” power management in DIY solar arrays or robotics.

Key Features

  • Triple Measurement: Monitors shunt voltage, bus voltage, and calculates total power consumption.

  • High Precision: Offers high accuracy for measuring low-side or high-side current without needing a separate ground reference.

  • I2C Interface: Simple 2-wire communication protocol, fully compatible with Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi.

  • Configurable: Includes a programmable calibration register to allow for flexible current-range measurements.

  • Low Power Draw: Optimized for battery-powered projects.
