Overview

The RCWL-0516 is a mini Doppler radar motion sensor module that uses microwave induction technology. Instead of detecting infrared radiation (heat), it emits a low-power microwave signal and measures the frequency shift of the reflected signal to detect movement. Because it uses 3.2GHz radio waves, it features 360-degree detection and can be completely hidden inside a plastic project box or behind a wooden panel without losing sensitivity.

Key Features

  • Through-Wall Detection: Can detect movement through thin walls, glass, and plastic—ideal for “hidden” security projects.

  • 360° Sensing Area: Unlike PIR sensors which have a “blind spot,” this radar sensor provides a full spherical detection zone.

  • Wide Voltage Range: Operates smoothly from 4V to 28V, making it compatible with almost any power supply.

  • Stable Performance: Less prone to false triggers from sunlight, wind, or ambient temperature changes compared to traditional PIR sensors.

  • Adjustable Parameters: Features solder pads on the back (C-TM, R-GN, R-CDS) to customize trigger time, sensing distance, and light sensitivity.
