OverviewÂ
This 0.56-inch, 4-digit, 7-segment LED Display is a raw component designed for direct multiplexing architectures. In this Common Anode (CA) setup, each of the four digits shares a single common power pin ($V_{CC}$). By cycling power through the digit pins sequentially and pulling the segment pins (a through g) LOW, you can display any 4-digit numerical value. This raw display gives developers complete control over refresh rates, power consumption, and custom driver designs using shift registers like the 74HC595.
Key FeaturesÂ
Raw 12-Pin Layout: Direct access to individual digits and segments without intermediate controller constraints.
Common Anode Internal Architecture: Ideal for pairing with sinking-current driver ICs, transistors (like the PN2222), or standard shift registers.
Integrated Clock Colon / Decimal Points: Features individual decimal points for each digit, allowing for floating-point data or time readouts.
Crisp Red Visibility: High-contrast segments offer uniform brightness under standard indoor lighting.
Compact 0.56″ Character Height: The perfect standard dimension for dashboard readouts, panel meters, and portable laboratory test equipment.

Understanding the 12-Pin ConfigurationÂ
Out of the 12 pins on the back of this component:
4 Pins control the common anodes for each of the individual digits (Digit 1, Digit 2, Digit 3, Digit 4).
8 Pins control the individual LED segments across the active digit (a, b, c, d, e, f, g, and DP/Decimal Point).
